Get Involved!

The Forum...mmm.. well, ok, that's us, but it's also you and we really coulld do with your help.

Why do we need you?

We exist to give our communities voices, to represent LGBT needs, hopes and aspirations with all and any of society's institutions, as well as with the press and the general public.

Our members are cis-gender and trans-gender lesbian, gay and  bisexual people of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities and from every walk of life, but we do not only serve our members.  We like to think that non-members feel they can express their opinions and views and maybe help us to put them across to our communities.

Why should I become a member?

None of the rights that lgbt people, black and minoroty ethnic people, people with disabilities, women, older and younger people, immigrants and refugees or even workers have today were 'given' to them, they had to fight, demontrate and campaign for them.

Ultimately we would love volunteers to join as full members, but anyone who identifies as LGBT is welcome to become a Volunteer.

What do we need?

Volunteers, because who cannot do everything by ourselves.

We only have two part-time, paid staff:

  • a Development Worker, 18.5 hours a week
  • an Administrator, 12 hours a week

They can just about deliver the targets and objectives contained in our Funding Agreement with Bristol City Council.

Part of that agreement is that we engage with our communities and invite participation, to make sure that a broad selection of Bristol's LGBT people have a chance to contribute and out their views across.

What can Volunteers do?

There is a broad se;ection of roles to match all prospective volunteers' skills and personal development aspirations.

Volunteers might be:

Trustee
Co-optees
expert advisors
fundraisers
office helpers
membership recruiters
online moderators
social networks sysops
journalists
photographers
graphic designers
website developers
event organisers

... just to mention a few roles.

OK, you've talked me into it... How do I become a Volunteer?
