Stonewall's anti-homophobic bullying DVD, 'Fit', to be sent to all schools in the UK

The DVD will be sent to all schoolsKids will love it and Teachers will find it an invaluable educational resource to tackle Homophobic bullying in school.   We're talking about 'Fit', originally a play staged by Stonewall to tackle homophobic language and promoting LGBT inclusion, recently turned into a DVD and soon to be sent out to ALL UK secondary schools.

Here at the Forum we have been waging a quiet war against homophobic bullying for almost two years, with a campaign entitled: "challenging Homophobia, supporting equality in schools".

We were delighted that Chris Gibbons, senior Education officer at Stonewall, come and address our meeting of 8th July 2008.

Our work is part of a growing continuum of work to combat homophobia in one of its last hiding places: Education and Faith.

Stonewall's distribution of the DVD will equip teachers in British secondary schools with a tool that appeals to younger audiences, while putting across to them that LGBT people are not victims and that here are NO 'legitimate targets' for bullies.

As we wait for the announcement by Bristol City Council's Chlidren and young People's Services of the City's enrollment on Stonewall's '

Eucation Champions

' programme, we are inspired and delighted by this development, which can only help in the fight against homophobia and hate crime.
