Football players are refusing to appear in a video against homophobia in the sport.  Today The Independent carries an article on the lamentable fate of a video the FA had been planning to combat homophobia on the pitch, in the terraces and in the dressing rooms.

The most vocally homophobic pope in recent history is due to visit Britain, most likely in September.  Following two complaints to BCC's Equality and Diversity, from two lapsed LGBT Catholic, we removed a link to a petition to make the Vatican pay for the visitwhile.  We referred the matter to our Trustees and, on 17th February, the Forum's Management Committee ruled that we represent the LGBT community, not just Catholics, and that Bristol City Council fund us to inform and connect the whole of Bristol's LGBT community to news, information, campaigns and issues that affect us and therefore it is our duty to report on all campaigns and petitions.  What's more, the petition does not call for banning the visit.  You can find the petitions here and here and here and here  (hover over links to view info).  There is also a petition for the visit, here.

Would you like to meet with other lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people working in the education system?  The city council is facilitating the setting up of a self-organised group for LGBT people working in the education system.  You do not have to be a teacher – you just need to identify as LGBT and be working anywhere in our education system.  Below you can download a flyer to display on your Staff notice board,

At the Forum's Open Meeting of 30th September,  Executive member of the Environment and Community Safety Executive, Lib Dem Councillor for Knowle Gary Hopkins, announced the Council's intention to enrol on Stonewall's Education Champions programme, to help the Authority tackle homophobia in teh City's schools.
