New To Bristol? Welcome!

Coming to a new city is both, exciting and intimidating.  On our website we try to supply a whole range of information to help you navigate your way around the City's LGBT scene, groups, activities, support networks and events.

Something for Everyone: this website aims to offer listings for everything from venues to information for LGBT people from every sector of our community: younger, older, parents, people with disabilities, Black and Minority Ethnic people, as well as information on specific topics, like housing, health and jobs, of interest to anyone coming to a new city.

Clubbing: You might want to throw yourself in at the deep-end and go clubbing all night in one of Bristol's lively venues, there are several in Old Market and some in the City Centre.

Chilling: Maybe you'd prefer to relax in a men's sauna, have a laughin a lesbian comedy club, go for a drink at an LGBT or LGBT-friendly pub or chill-out with a cup of coffee and share some good, stimulating conversation.

Entertainment: you might like to check-out shows and film events at the Bristol Queer Caf, or go and watch an LGBT movie, during LGBT Film month, held every year at the Watershed.

Outdoor activities: If you are a lesbian and like walking, you might like to join Bristol's 'wild walking women'.  There is an LGBT cycle riding group, Cycle Out Bristol, and even an LGBT climbing group.

Books and Music: If books are your thing, we have a brand-new LGBT book Club, as well as GayWrite, a newbie LGBT writers' group; or you might like to sing your heart out, then why not join our excellent LGBT Choir 'Sing Out Bristol', who hold regular performances through the year?

Younger people: If you are a student, you might want to join your University's LGBT Society, or, if you are between 13 and 21, you might find Freedom Youth are a dynamic, social group that have led their own activities, including a fabulous trip to Japan.  An excellent way of getting to know young LGBT people your age.

Older people: if you are on the 'mature' side of 30, then you might like to hook-up with others who remember the Beatles and don't think Danny La Rue is a street in Paris and Harvey Milk a chocolate bar, try Pink Herrings if you are a woman, or the Griffin bar, if you are a man..

Activism: of course, you might also like to involve yourself with the Forum's work more directly, either as an ad-hoc volunteer or by joiing our Management Committee, as a Trustee, and gain excellent expreience, while contributing to the furthering of the LGBT Equality Agenda in the City, fighting ignorance and homophobia, engaging with local people and immersing yourself with the lively activist mix of queer politics.  Alternatively there are other groups in the Directory that might work in an area of specific interest to you, like education, or Council emplloyees' LGBT activism.

Sector-specific information: the links bar at the top provides quick access to the information in our directories, grouped by specific relevance to lesbians, gay men, bisexual and trans people.

The main menu: links to a range of information about the Forum, listings for venues, social and support groups,  websites, publications and special interest networks.

Events: You can check out what's happening in our Diary page, or look at the Calendar, but there is a lso a digest of the next 10 or so forthcoming events on the right-hand side of the screen.  There is also a calendar view you can use.

Interact: we also have eFroums and eNewsletters on the site, check-out the downloadable copies of Outburst.
