Join The Forum

The Forum was created to act as the voice of the LGB community, that is, Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual people who live, work or study in Bristol. 

At our Annual General Meeting, on October 16th 2010, we shall be voting on extending our remit to include Transgender people, and so become an LGBT Organisation. Please note that, although we have always represented Trans people who identify as LGB, this amendment to our Constitution wil mean that we would explicitly offer membership to Trans people, irrespective of their sexual orientation.  To vote on the Proposal you need to be an Individual member (see below) 

There are three types of membership:

Membership of the Forum gives you the opportunity to be at the heart of debates on LGB issues, by contributing your opinions and add your voice to those of other in our LGBT communities.  More importantly it allows you to join our Management Committee as a Trustee and help steer the work of the Forum, in coonsultation with our members and partner organisations.

To become a FULL member you need to

  • Be over 18 for  (over 16 for Associate Membership)
  • Live, work or study in Bristol
  • Identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual

Please complete the online contact form, giving your full name and contact details.

We will post you:

  • a welcome letter
  • a paper application form - this is to verify your postal address and obtain your signed permission to use the contact details you provide
  • an anonymous monitoring form, which will be processed separately
  • a Freepost return envelope

Recording and Confidentiality.

When we receive your completed application form, we will

  1. Separate the Monitoring form and enter the information in a separate database, without a facility for storing names or other personal details
  2. Enter your membership details in a secure Membership Database, which is password-protected
  3. File your application form in a securely locked filing cabinet

Note that we NEVER share or disclose contact details.

Unless you have opted for postal communication, we will then email you a welcome message confirming that you are a Member.

If you require communication in a special format, such as large print or Braille, please let us know.

Change of address.

Post: when correspondence is returned to us marked "not known at this address", we will assume that you no longer live there and  take your name off the mailing list, so please remember to  let us have your new postal address if you move and wish to remain on our mailing list.

You will continue to receive information in electronic format at the email address you last supplied, until you email us asking to be taken off the email list.
